The power metal band AXEMASTER has re-formed with their original lineup!!!!! After many years of the group being away from the scene, guitarist Joe Sims, vocalist/bassist Christopher Michael, and drummer Brian Henderson have once again joined forces to resurrect this classic US underground band that found success in the 80s with several worldwide releases (including the album "Blessing in the Skies" and the picture disc "The Vision", both on Azra International Records). They're currently writing material for a new CD that will be 100% true to their traditional metal roots.

SLAYER To Play Singapore In October

According to LAMC Productions, SLAYER will perform at Max Pavillion in Singapore on October 13. Tickets go on sale August 14 at Sistic. Prices are $125, $85 and $60 (general admission).
As previously reported, SLAYER has been confirmed for the Loud Park 06 festival, set to take place October 14-15, 2006 at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Halls 9-11 in Tokyo, Japan.
SLAYER's entire appearance on "The Henry Rollins Show" ? including live performances of the songs "Cult" and "Disciple" (which didn't air on the original program), and an interview with all four members of the group ? has been made available for viewing online at this location.
SLAYER is streaming its new album, "Christ Illusion" (due out today, August  , in its entirety on the band's official MySpace page.
"Christ Illusion" is SLAYER's first new studio album since 2001, and the first recorded by the band's original line-up ? Kerry King (guitar), Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Jeff Hanneman (guitars), Dave Lombardo (drums) ? since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss". "Christ Illusion" was produced by Josh Abraham and executive-produced by Rick Rubin.

MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel has posted the following message on the band's official forum:
"Just got home yesterday from our week-long stint on the Sounds of the Underground tour and I'd like to thank all of you who made it out and rocked with us. Also thanks to all the bands, crews, production crew and organizers for having us and making us feel welcome.
"A big 'Fuck Yeah!' to our home base for killing it in Mountain View last week. We hadn't played here in almost two years and although it was a short set, it was far and away the best MACHINE HEAD Bay Area show since I joined. Celebrated with the CANNIBAL CORPSE guys after the gig and learned they were HUGE VIO-LENCE fans. George and Rob proceeded to play 'Eternal Nightmare' and sing every word. YES!!!!!!

Canadian thrashers ANNIHILATOR have been confirmed for the Metal Dayz Festival, set to take place August 4 in Pratteln, Switzerland.
Commented ANNIHILATOR chief Jeff Waters: "More dates will announced soon but we will be returning to Europe for the entire month of July and a few weeks into August. There's also going to be a few surprises unleashed for this tour: the return of bassist Russ Bergquist and singer Dave Padden will also be playing guitar (this guy KILLS on guitar, people!). I will sing on songs like 'King of the Kill', 'Refresh the Demon' and others that I originally recorded/sang on."

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich has commented on the rumors that the band will headline this year's Ozzfest alongside special guests SYSTEM OF A DOWN. In a March 2, 2006 video update posted on The Metallica Club (official METALLICA fan club) web site (and subsequently obtained by BLABBERMOUTH.NET), Ulrich said about the group's upcoming touring plans, "I can tell you that pretty much everything that I know about is already announced ? there's not super-secret things being planned out in some warroom somewhere about all these other tours and all this other stuff. There's one or two other things that's brewing but it's not like big tours or anything? It's pretty much all been announced. There's the rumor about the Ozzfest? Everybody thinks we're playing Ozzfest, which, I mean, would be a great thing one day ? or a fun thing [to do] one day ? but it hasn't shown up my radar [yet]."

DEICIDE guitarist Ralph Santolla spoke to Chile's Las ?ltimas Noticias regarding the cancellation of the group's Feb. 21 show in Valparaiso. The concert, which was eventually replaced with a gig in nearby Quilpue (before that show was also pulled), was reportedly called off as a result of the continuing controversy surrounding DEICIDE's appearance in the country ? where a DEICIDE fan murdered an Italian Catholic priest in 2004 ? and the band's promotional poster for the concert, which featured an image of Christ with a bullet hole in the middle of his forehead (view the poster at this location).
