The Italian Thrasher Sothis announces the split with the front-man Franco Topitti. After 10 years of concerts, records and incredible satisfaction, the band feel the obligation to guarantee, without to interfere, the suffered choice to leave due to characterial differences.
We infinitely thank Frank for all the sweat, the blood and the tears that gave us, memories that we will never forget!
Sothis informs therefore of being officially to the search of a new singer.

METALLICA's 'Death Magnetic' Debuts At No. 1 In Europe

According to Billboard.biz, two official days of opening sales were enough to drive METALLICA's "Death Magnetic" (Vertigo/Universal) to the top of European Top 100 Albums. The LP, released last Friday (Sept. 12), goes straight to the summit in the United Kingdom, where it was leaked for early release 24 and in some cases even 48 hours ahead of the official launch. Sales there had reached 75,000 by the end of Saturday, while "Magnetic" also arrives at No. 1 in France, Denmark, Portugal and the Belgian region of Flanders, No. 2 in neighboring Wallony and Spain, No. 3 in Ireland, and climbs 7-1 in Norway.

After teaming up to write, Michelle Meldrum and Gene Hoglan recently announced MELDRUM’s new member lineup before entering the studio to record tracks for their new album in Los Angeles, CA on April 29.
MELDRUM’s new lineup features: Australian metal vocalist Michele Madden (Tourettes), Laura Christine (Warface), Gene Hoglan (Death, Dark Angel, Strapping Young Lad) and Michelle Meldrum.
The new album, in which band members strive to transcend anything previously recorded, will follow up their last CD Blowin’ Up The Machine, which released last year on Frontiers/Locomotive.
According to Michelle Meldrum, “The new songs are slammin’, heavier and more exciting than ever. I am honored to work with Michele Madden, she is an amazing singer with an extremely heavy voice and a huge range. We are venturing into new territory sonically, and can’t wait to perform the new material live. ermano Filho, drummer who has been part of brazilian group since year 2000, has decided to leave the band. The process was very friendly and the request came from Hermano himself, who is going through a particularly decisive moment, and justified argueing he won't be able to dedicate his time to the band anymore.
Hazy Hamlet has his debut already recorded and is currently seeking the best way to release it soon so it can return to the stages as soon as possible.
The group intends to publish the new drummer's name in the next weeks in the official website (www.hazyhamlet.com).

Nile guitarist Karl Sanders will be offering guitar lessons across the U.S. during the forthcoming Nile tour in Spring 2008.
Lessons will include, but are not necessarily limited to:
Extreme Metal Guitar Techniques, Melodic Guitar Application Within a Death Metal Context, warm-up routines, and chops-building exercises.
Sessions are intended for Intermediate to advanced students. Lessons will be at the show venues in the cities along the routed dates of the Nile tour, on a first come first served basis. The the cost of lessons are $100 per hour.
There will be a maximum of 4 students per day to insure that every student gets personal attention and a quality learning experience.

Finland's MTV3 conducted an interview with METALLICA frontman James Hetfield in Helsinki on Sunday, July 15. Watch the interview in two parts: Part#1, Part#2.
During the chat, Hetfield was asked about the report that he was detained by U.K. airport security earlier in the month on his way to performing in London for Live Earth.
Britain's The Times claimed that Hetfield was held and questioned due to what friends called his "Taliban-like beard." According to the paper, the METALLICA singer was briefly questioned before "red-faced" officials realized he was a rock star.
Speaking to MTV3, Hetfield said of his beard, "There's a rumor going around that I was stopped at an airport for having this. They thought I was — it's just a made-up rumor — that I was some terrorist or something. I haven't seen many terrorists with tattoos, so…"

It's finally time to oficially announce the news, which have been kept secret by the band for the last couple of months. The wait is over! "Mental Electricity" soon to
be available on the Polish market. A must-have for the collectors!!!
On the 22nd of June HD entered a contract on releasing an exclusive version of "Mental Electricity". Diachell Music from Olsztyn is planning to release a limited amount of 500 copies in autumn'07. First 150 copies will also include an A2- poster.
The CD will be packed in a jewelbox and a slipcase with pressed logo. Talisac Studio Design has prepared for this occasion a brand new, intriguing and untypical design.
The inlay will also include English and Polish translations of lyrics. Apart from the very well-received debut-MCD the band remastered the tracks and enriched them with some previously unreleased songs. The limited series will be hand-numbered. We're happy to let everyone know that the writing for AXEMASTER's long awaited new full length CD tentatively titled "The Second Coming" has been completed and the
recording will start soon. It will be a long process as there are 15 songs and everyone involved want to take the time to make sure everything comes out kick ass!
The songwriting, musicianship, and recording of this release will be better than anything the band has previously done, a fitting comeback effort from a project that never strayed from their metal roots! DUBLIN DEATH PATROL (DDP), the new band featuring TESTAMENT singer Chuck Billy and former EXODUS vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza, is making its long-awaited debut CD available via its official web site.
Billy originally teamed up with fellow Dublin, California ragers Willy Lange (RAMPAGE, LAAZ ROCKIT), Souza and three of the Billy brothers as well as some other local Dublin boys.
The seeds were planted in or about 1980 with a Bay Area thrash band called RAMPAGE, featuring neighborhood kids from Dublin, California — Chuck Billy, along with his brother Andy Billy, Greg Bustamante, Ernie Boehm and Willy Lange. The guys were about 18 years old and had all known each other since they were about five. They grew up listening to a variety of bands — from LED ZEPPELIN, KISS, AEROSMITH to THE DEAD KENNEDYS and THE SEX PISTOLS — and were influenced by the sounds of the late '70s and early '80s.
This time period was a great time for a bunch of kids who lived out in the 'burbs, and the boys from Dublin with their long hair and their naïve attitudes would go to the clubs to rage and see THE DEAD KENNEDYS and whatever punk shows that trails through the Bay Area. Lange recalled, "We learned quickly that people in the big city were a little different." The boys from Dublin got into more than a few fights before any reputation was established, and hence the DUBLIN DEATH PATROL was born.

In an official statement, Terrana says, "This was no easy decision, but I strongly believe it is about time for something new for me. Launch Radio Networks reports: Metallica released its first-ever collection of all its music videos, called "The Videos 1989-2004", yesterday (Tuesday, December 5). The DVD contains all 21 of the band's videos, from 1989's "One" to 2003's "Some Kind of Monster", along with a few bonus features. Drummer Lars Ulrich told Launch that the project had been on the band's radar for a while. "It's one of those things that you just had in the back of your mind for a few years," he said. "It's like, we should just get all this crap out on one DVD, 'cause, you know, so many kids are always asking about it, and there's just so much of that stuff that, you know, nobody sees anymore. And, you know, especially with how MTV in America and...it just seemed like, you know, people always ask about it."

SLAYER's video for the song "Eyes of the Insane" has been posted online exclusively at MP3.com.
Directed by Iranian filmmaker Tony Petrossian (SLIPKNOT), "Eyes of the Insane" is a first-person narrative about the horrors leading up to the final moments of a solder at war. The entire video is a single, long and tight close-up of the soldier's eye with images clearly reflected within his pupil and iris and perfectly choreographed with the rhythm of the music. Reflected are disconcerting images of para trooping into enemy territory, gunfire, helicopters and tanks, explosions, poignant flashbacks of his wife and child and home, and the images of his death. Two endings were filmed — one where the soldier dies from his combat injuries, and the other where he commits suicide.

Agankast performed at the UKs biggest new Festival Bloodstock in September to a great reaction from the crowd.. with excellent reviews appearing on the BBCs own website surprisingly. Agankast are now in the process of securing some Festival dates in Europe in 2007, which is one step further to their goal of getting out into the balkans for some dates. The band have also begun the early recording stages of their third self promotional CD album. It is set to be a "Double album CD", and expected to be entitled "Walking with Angels" .... this New Double CD continues the prolific songwriting onslaught that accompanys Agankast, with already two albums written and released and an albums worth of free material available online.... Agankast again prove that the difference between a signed band and an unsigned one is very confusing.

A "memorial day" for late METALLICA bassist Cliff Burton has been scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at the at Gyllene Rasten restaurant/bar (web site) in Ljungby, D?rarp, Sweden. It was on September 27, 1986 ? 20 years ago this Wednesday? that Burton died in a tragic bus accident in Sweden, just over the road from where Gyllene Rasten is located. The restaurant/bar will be playing METALLICA music from their early days when Cliff was in the band. Live videos will also be aired, including the "Cliff 'Em All" DVD. In addition, several bands will be performing Cliff-era METALLICA tunes, including AGE OF FURY (from Hillerstorp, Sweden), THE HAZE (Helsingborg, Sweden) and MORBID INSULTER (Gothenburg, Sweden). According to director Charlie Granberg, the clip is "about a guy that is so filled with grief and self-pity that he sees the world as totally black, even though you get a hint in the beginning of the video that it's summer and all. Then his visions and view of the world takes over. And it just gets darker and darker from there. Is he about to commit suicide or just taking a swim? That's up for you to decide. I have tried working on a subconcious level with a lot of symbolism and metaphors, but still trying to make it somewhat documentary-like and believable."

Glam-Metal.com: Kevin, I'm excited to hear that QUIET RIOT has a brand new studio album coming out, titled "Rehab". Mind telling us a little about the album and what people can expect from it?
Kevin: It's a departure from previous QUIET RIOT albums. The songs are composed differently, and recorded differently. It's similar to our QUIET RIOT albums in two ways: it's got my vocal sound, which is like it or not, distinctive, and Frankie Banali might be only one of maybe five drummers around who's identifiable with his drum sound. You've got John Bonham, Ginger Baker, Cozy Powell, Frankie Banali, and maybe Keith Moon as guys who are distinctive by their drum sounds, besides their playing. Songwriting-wise, we dug into our '70s roots, and some of the guitar texture are more modern sounding. Not modern sounding like you may think, but more bluesy, I think.
Glam-Metal.com: How happy are you with the new release, and is there anything you'd like to say about the new record Frankie?
Frankie: I'm very happy with the fact that it's getting released, and that it's getting released worldwide. Beyond that, I think it's a great record, I think the songs are great, I think it's a very different QUIET RIOT record, but we'll let the listening public decide what they think.
Kevin: It's all about the songs. The big emphasis was on the song writing, and other times for one reason or another, we went in a direction that was applicable to all four people that were playing in the group. On this one, Frankie and I were able to go in whatever direction we wanted to, and not having to cater to any personal style other than what we wanted to do.

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich joined Ian Gillan on stage during the DEEP PURPLE frontman's solo gig Monday night (September 11) at Slim's in San Francisco. According to one eyewitness report at the Metclub.com forum, "Ian invited Lars to the stage and said Lars kept him drinking untill 4:00 a.m. in the morning the night before... Lars sat behind the drums and they played 'Smoke On The Water' just before the encore. It was a great treat! We all know what kind of an impact DEEP PURPLE had in Lars' life. I feel very lucky to witness him playing a DEEP PURPLE song with Ian Gillan. And I think Lars did a great job. Well done, Lars!"
Gillan's current five-week North American run is in support of "Gillan's Inn", which he released to celebrate 40 years in the music business. He will wrap things up September 21 in Medina, Minnesota.

Chaos-Forum: You appeared on DEATH's "Human" album. Why did Chuck choose you? Did you know him previously? How was it to work with Chuck and Steve DiGiorgio and Paul Masvidal?
Reinert: "Yes, DEATH's 'Human' was my first 'real' recording date.
"I think Chuck chose me because of the stuff he had heard on the CYNIC demos. We had been friends for a few years at that time. Paul and Chuck had spoken on the phone a lot and we used to make road trips up to Altamonte Springs (where Chuck lived) to watch DEATH rehearse and hang out. I remember taking a bus trip up to Gainesville with my friend Brian Bender to go see DEATH and HELLWITCH play. I was 14 and he was 15. So I had known Chuck for a few years by that time.
"Working with Steve and Paul was great fun. I had obviously been working with Paul in CYNIC so it was fun to work with him in different project.

The Korea Herald reports that METALLICA, one of the world's most successful heavy-metal bands, will return to Korea on August 15 to play at Jamsil Olympic Stadium in southeastern Seoul.
Formed in 1981, the American hard-rock band has sold more than 90 million albums. During their first live concert in the country, which was eight years ago, some 35,000 fans filled Seoul Olympic Gymnastics Hall ? even though Korea's economy was struggling.
"It was shocking to see Korean fans sing with us throughout the concert," said James Hetfield, lead singer of the band, in an interview. "I thought here are true METALLICA fans."

AUDIOSLAVE's video for its new single, "Original Fire", has been posted online at Yahoo! Music. The clip was shot in late June in Los Angeles with graphic designer/video director P.R. Brown, whose r?sum? includes clips for MATISYAHU and DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE.
"The video, in some ways, is about the thread of music and cultural figures with integrity that were important parts of our history ? how all those streams flow together to where we are today," AUDIOSLAVE guitarist Tom Morello told MTV.com.

The power metal band AXEMASTER has re-formed with their original lineup!!!!! After many years of the group being away from the scene, guitarist Joe Sims, vocalist/bassist Christopher Michael, and drummer Brian Henderson have once again joined forces to resurrect this classic US underground band that found success in the 80s with several worldwide releases (including the album "Blessing in the Skies" and the picture disc "The Vision", both on Azra International Records). They're currently writing material for a new CD that will be 100% true to their traditional metal roots.

SLAYER To Play Singapore In October

According to LAMC Productions, SLAYER will perform at Max Pavillion in Singapore on October 13. Tickets go on sale August 14 at Sistic. Prices are $125, $85 and $60 (general admission).
As previously reported, SLAYER has been confirmed for the Loud Park 06 festival, set to take place October 14-15, 2006 at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Halls 9-11 in Tokyo, Japan.
SLAYER's entire appearance on "The Henry Rollins Show" ? including live performances of the songs "Cult" and "Disciple" (which didn't air on the original program), and an interview with all four members of the group ? has been made available for viewing online at this location.
SLAYER is streaming its new album, "Christ Illusion" (due out today, August  , in its entirety on the band's official MySpace page.
"Christ Illusion" is SLAYER's first new studio album since 2001, and the first recorded by the band's original line-up ? Kerry King (guitar), Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Jeff Hanneman (guitars), Dave Lombardo (drums) ? since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss". "Christ Illusion" was produced by Josh Abraham and executive-produced by Rick Rubin.

MACHINE HEAD guitarist Phil Demmel has posted the following message on the band's official forum:
"Just got home yesterday from our week-long stint on the Sounds of the Underground tour and I'd like to thank all of you who made it out and rocked with us. Also thanks to all the bands, crews, production crew and organizers for having us and making us feel welcome.
"A big 'Fuck Yeah!' to our home base for killing it in Mountain View last week. We hadn't played here in almost two years and although it was a short set, it was far and away the best MACHINE HEAD Bay Area show since I joined. Celebrated with the CANNIBAL CORPSE guys after the gig and learned they were HUGE VIO-LENCE fans. George and Rob proceeded to play 'Eternal Nightmare' and sing every word. YES!!!!!!
